Photography and retouching. How we apply photographic techniques to your images
We work with Photographers to ensure the best image clarity is not compromised by the print process. There are a number of digital Photo Printers that exceed that old C41 print process (standard photo prints). Many clients think that they can replace the Photographer! This is rarely the case. We have never had a CLIENTS film or digital photograph that resembles anything as close as a professional studio photo shoot. However we often produce work that is a vast improvement over the original photo, (for whatever reason). This is called photo-retouching and involves virtually rebuilding the image digitally. Professional Photographers like to get the best out of their images particularly large format prints and quality Publications - where it matters most!
Here are some of the more obvious image enhancements we provide: 1. Image colour rebalance -Balance using PICTOCOLOR 2. Image resizing - i.e. enlarged using S-SPLINE technlogy 3. Image adjustment - i.e. correcting 'perspective' alignments 4. Image manipulation - i.e. overall and detail image correction 5. Image montage - i.e. multiple image combinations 6. Image refocus or defocus - Refocus using FOCUS-FIXER 7. Image cut-outs - i.e. removal of all background to white 8. Image toning - i.e. from sepia print to palladium colourations From a purely Photographic perspective, very few printers offer a better visual print quality than a dedicated Digital Photo laser (up to A2+) and the Iris Printer (up to A3+) for unsurpassed detail and clarity. Large format printers are a compromise that is normal in terms of Exhibition and Signage requirements but require the same 'source' image enlargement and colour correction applied.
