PRINT FORMATS

What are the PRINT formats?
A brief overview of services we provide:

IRIS PRINTS
- Ideal for Art professionals Fine Art prints. Highly accurate. Uses a unique process unlike standard Ink jet prints.

PROOF PRINTING - This can be a CHROMALIN, MATCHPRINT or a Digital version that does not require Film Plates. Most Proofs are matched to the print press that is going to be used. It's the last final check.

ACROBAT PROOF - I've added this because it's finally replaced most 'other' traditional 'Proof printing' techniques. It's not however a 'printers proof' as it cannot check actual colours used or print plates. It gives an 'on-screen' visual which can be considered accurate. Widely used.

INK JET PRINTS - The common standard for most single 'one-off' type prints. Quality can be good to outstanding depending on the machine operator and company used. There are several different types of Ink jet Printer and speed is always an issue on many at high quality settings. All prints need lamination to protect the surface (unless Digitally Printed Vinyl is used) .

DIRECT DIGITAL PRINTING
- take advantage of high quality print LASER PRINTERS for short run printing. A quick alternative to Normal Colour printing. It can be more expensive, depending on print run.

PRESS REPROGRAPHICS - You may never need PRINT FILM for printing plates but many publications still do require a FILM SETS upon booking your AD space. We will then supply the correct film specifications and liase with the publications printers for you..

SCREEN PRINTING
- flat colour on card, plastics and perspex - even wood can be traditionally printed using this process. From small adhesive labels to very large prints suitable for retail (POS) display or Exterior signage.

DIGITAL PRINTED VINYL
- Similar to standard ink jet but suited to external signage as can be printed onto weatherproof material in full colour. Can be very large and does not require lamination in many cases.

DIGITAL PHOTO PRINTS
- Created from your digital images and composed on one large Professional Colour photo print in a wide range of sizes from A4 to A2. Uses C41 process as a true Photoprint (not an inkjet).

COLOUR LITHO PRINTING
- The standard for spot-on colour matching and we can now use Computer to plate technology (CTP). Wide ranges of traditional print finishes can include Matt or Gloss laminating and extra 'special' (spot) colours used for quality brochure work generally.

LETTERPRESS
- Is still very widely used where a quality FINISH is preferred as used in Silver or Gold foil blocking die stamping techniques.

BLIND EMBOSS - Uses the Letterpress print die to raise 'Emboss' or lower 'deboss' a graphic image (usually a logo) onto card or paper.

THERMOGRAPHY - This is the practice of using heat sensitive inks to 'RAISE' the print to resemble DIE STAMPING (as used by Letterpress). Effective and a lot cheaper.

DESIGN & PRINT
- A Package where we recommend the best design ad print for a specific purpose. This can include any type of printing techniques.

GRAPHIC DESIGN
- An independent advisor should be your choice of Graphic Designer to consider different techniques and print processes. You'll probably need a Designer for Internet construction at the same time.

PRINT MEDIA FORMATS
- We supply all the main print media formats as part of our in-house prepress reprographics. We also supply a range of photographic retouching services and 'Press Ad' services for those that prefer a more distinctive feel to magazine advertising. We comply with all magazine publishing formats.

PRINT CONVERSIONS
- It is possible to 'convert' any PRINT Formats to and from anything. We can supply Acrobat PDF to integrate with your web pages for download. These PDF documents can be interactive (which can often link to a web page or movie file).

DYE SUB PRINTS - This uses a particular paper to 'infuse the dye' into photographic type paper. A slow digital process but with very accurate results that although small (no larger than A4 normally) are impressive.

ANODISED METAL
- Not as widely used as once was. Used on high quality labels and small signage. Acid etch printing technique that uses Screen printing to apply the etch resist. Can be any one colour. Aluminium usually.

DIE-STAMP: Often found on Company Seals. EMBOSS is part of the Letterpress process of raised metal type. Can be also made of Rubber or Plastics.

Ask for some help, if you need it. It's what we do!
